Under The Line (2016) is a charcoal and graphite drawing that uses GPS technology to trace human movement and communication in a culturally significant site. The spontaneous flow of colour and the driving force of the line capture the motion and energy of people moving through the Sydney Opera House Forecourt using their smart phone. Also known as Bennelong Point, the site is connected to the past labour of Indigenous and convict women, evidenced by massive middens of discarded shells which were collected to make lime mortar to construct government house. The work is part of a series that investigates how architecture and technology reshapes our movement through material and digital spaces.
